Red Lentil Dahl
A creamy, comforting red lentil dahl, simmered in coconut milk with turmeric and ginger. 100% vegan, budget-friendly and ready in 30 minutes, it's a complete Indian dish, rich in plant protein and flavour. Delicious with basmati rice.
Ingredients
- 250 g red lentils
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 piece of ginger
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Coriander, oil, salt
Method
- 1Rinse the red lentils under clear water.
- 2Saute onion, garlic and ginger in the oil over medium heat.
- 3Add the spices and toast for 1 minute.
- 4Pour in the lentils, coconut milk and 300 ml water.
- 5Cook for 18-20 minutes until the lentils are tender.
- 6Season, sprinkle with coriander and serve with rice.

- Red lentils need no soaking.
- Adjust the water for a more or less creamy texture.
