The most commonly diagnosed cancers in the world are breast, prostate and bowel. They can occur at any age, but more than 75 per cent of breast cancers occur in women over 50. Sixty-three per cent of prostate cancers are diagnosed in men over 65. Bowel-cancer risk rises sharply once you turn 50.
